| The apparatus mainly consists of guarded hot plate assembly to measure thermal conductivity of liquid. The container in which, the assembly is kept well insulated using thermal insulation, and the necessary instrumentation for measurement & control of voltage, current & temperature. One top guard and second ring guard heaters are provided to stop heat leaking from the main heater and what ever heat is generated in the main heater passes through the liquid layer and goes to the cooling chamber. In this way longitudinal transfer of heat in conduction mode is ensured which qualifies the computation of thermal conductivity. |
